The official mascot of the Red Hat Society is Ruby RedHat, a frisky, full-figured little lady, cleverly disguised as an adult. She represents the spirit of the little girl who is alive and well inside each of us. She is one sweet yet spunky little person. Everyone who knows Ruby loves her. And she reciprocates wholeheartedly. She may be small, but her heart is HUGE!
Ruby has to have most of her clothing custom-made, as she is severely
height-challenged. (She insists that she is about one foot tall, but just
between us, we think she's closer to ten inches.) In any case, that is a sensitive
subject, so we try not to mention it. Her size; however, does make it harder
to notice her when she attends our events. Often times, we will find one of her
little pink slippers (which she has a habit of losing), which proves that she has indeed been there. And,
to the surprise of many, we have come to realize that not everyone can see her! It
appears that only those who respond to the sparkly idea of red-hatted fun ever actually catch glimpses of her. She is similar to the famed leprechaun of Irish lore, a "now you see it, now you don't little creature.
Ruby is the embodiment of the attributes and attitudes that Red Hatters admire and hope to emulate themselves. Here are Ruby RedHat's top Ten Rules for Living. While the Red Hat Society has no rules, Ruby's rules for living are worth listening to!
